Model Intercomparison

The figures below show study's projections of total annual electricity production for EU countries under four different scenarios. The PROMETHEUS and TIAM models cover the EU28, while the GCAM model focuses on the EU27 (excluding the UK).

Differences between GCAM and PROMETHEUS are less pronounced, which can be attributed to the myopic nature of the models, and the logit choice among technologies. TIAM’s perfect foresight on the other hand dictates early investments, due to earlier implementation of alternative mitigation technologies alongside energy efficiency measures, increasing electrification.
